The Challenge

A history of social inequality in Nigeria

This systemic imbalance has given rise to a deeply entrenched social and educational hierarchy—one that continues to marginalize children from low-income backgrounds. As a result, many of these children are denied not only access to quality education but also the broader range of life-changing opportunities that education is meant to provide. This lack of access perpetuates cycles of poverty, limits upward mobility, and widens the gap between privileged and underprivileged communities, making it increasingly difficult for affected children to reach their full potential or contribute meaningfully to society.

One in every five of the world’s out-of-school children is Nigeria

In Nigeria, About 10.5 million children are not in school

How M & O Alpha Foundation Supports A New Reality

In our effort to alleviate the educational inequality that exists in this country, we leverage research, and our network of partners to identify and highlight issues that impact student learning outcomes occurring along socioeconomic lines.

The outcome is an exchange of ideas across sectors and systems that advance our collective vision for educational equity

The Reality We Work Towards….

We envision a nation where every child, regardless of their background, enjoys an education that propels them towards the opportunity-rich life they deserve.
